It is a common
misunderstanding that acupuncture hurts. It is simply from an association
that has been made with the familiar experience of receiving a shot
at the doctor’s office. In the hands of a skilled acupuncturist
with good quality needles, patients have virtually no sensation
at all when the needles are tapped in. Once the needles are stimulated,
they may feel a dull or slight tingling sensation in and around
the area of the needle. Most patients find the treatments to be
very relaxing and meditative experiences.
In our clinic, we use the world famous Dong Bang needles. Dong Bang
is a Korean company renowned for its high standards and advanced
techniques in acupuncture needle production. Dong Bang has developed
and mastered a unique process, which allows the production of a
needle that is very fine, flexible and smooth with strong internal
structure.
Dong Bang needles are sterile and hygienic. Each needle is individually
blister packed in a sterile plastic tube. The needles are used only
once, and then discarded.
Dong Bang carries out strict quality control procedures. Every package
is indicated with a lot number which enables identification of the
production date and materials used in manufacturing in order to
maintain quality control.
Unfortunately, many acupuncturists use low quality needles in an
effort to save costs. High quality needles can be five times as
expensive, but we believe that we must treat and care for others
as we would treat and care for ourselves. The quality and the comfort
of our patients is naturally reflected in the results from our treatments.
